I. Responsibilities
Build a customer base in Asia, foremost in China
o Identify segments of the market and stakeholders within the market which are the most attractive to target.
o Develop a compelling value proposition for each target segment and/or stakeholder in the market.
o Identify whether specific local partners are necessary to successfully develop the market.
o Identify target customers in the region and build close relationships with them.
o Close sales with customers in the region.
o Seek qualified customer referrals from third parties such as manufacturers and business partners.
Present SolarBuyer and proactively market our services and products
o Get the “SolarBuyer word” out into the market and raise brand awareness
o Seek opportunities to speak at conferences and other events
o Capture earned-media opportunities in the region
o Educate potential customers as a ‘trusted advisor’
Manage local product and service development
o Understand customers’ needs with regard to managing the quality of solar components from diligence, through procurement and quality assurance for specific projects.
o Customize the core SolarBuyer products and services for the local market(s) and stakeholders.
Provide intelligence on the Asian PV market, especially China
II. Goals
Understand our business model, product, services, core challenges and opportunities
Identify and prioritize target market segments and stakeholders
Develop and implement a localized value proposition
Get a direct understanding of the companies factory based work
Secure first revenue within three (3) months of start (more quantified KPI are to be disclosed during future interview)
Grow and update our customer database in the region
Manage the localization of marketing collateral (language and content)
Provide input and ideas for the development and growth of the company, its strategies, clients and suppliers.
III. Qualifications and Experience
A university degree, preferably in business management and development and/or engineering with a business focus.
5+ years’ experience in the photovoltaic industry
Business development experience within the industry preferred
Existing network of contacts across the Chinese PV industry
Good knowledge of solar manufacturers, products, processes and quality
Solid understanding and experience with commercial business processes
Fluency in Mandarin and English is essential
